Seven low-calorie Starbucks drinks to order

You do not need a complicated custom order to find a lighter drink. The standard U.S. menu already includes black coffee, iced tea and several creamy options with modest calorie counts. The important detail is that the number belongs to a particular size and recipe.

This table deliberately uses named menu drinks rather than a collection of “secret menu” combinations. It gives you an order you can identify in the app and a published number to match. A customized drink may still work well for you, but its nutrition needs to be checked separately.

Five of these seven Grande drinks are below 100 calories. The two 5-calorie drinks suit different preferences: Nitro Cold Brew is coffee, while Passion Tango is a herbal tea. The hot Americano is another option if you prefer espresso with water. The lemonade version of Passion Tango adds sweetness and lists 50 calories.

For a creamy choice under 100, the standard Vanilla Sweet Cream Nitro Cold Brew lists 70 calories. The similarly named Vanilla Sweet Cream Cold Brew lists 110. They are separate recipes; the word “Nitro” is not an add-on you can ignore when choosing a tracking entry.

What if you want milk, sweetness or a hot drink?

A standard Grande Cappuccino with 2% milk is 140 calories and provides 9 g protein. It is a different kind of drink from black coffee: more milk, a different texture and a different nutrition profile. Choosing it can be more useful than ordering a drink you do not enjoy solely to minimize a number.

The 110-calorie Vanilla Sweet Cream Cold Brew offers another middle ground. Its published recipe includes both vanilla syrup and sweet cream. Leaving one out changes the recipe, but we do not assign a new precise calorie count without a reliable figure for the customized serving.

If protein is part of your goal, see our protein coffee comparison. A drink being low in calories does not necessarily mean it contains much protein, and a high-protein latte is not necessarily low in calories.

Three customizations to check before you log

  • Size: match Tall, Grande or Venti in the nutrition entry. Do not use the Grande figure for a larger cup.
  • Milk and cream: a splash, a milk-based latte and a cream topping are different amounts. Plant-based milk is not automatically the lowest-calorie choice in every recipe.
  • Syrup, sauces and foam: fewer pumps changes the recipe. Sugar-free flavoring does not remove the calories in milk or cream, and cold foam is not the same as plain foam on a cappuccino.

Ask for the drink by its full name, size and changes, then save that exact combination if you order it often. A note such as “Grande Vanilla Sweet Cream Cold Brew, standard” is much easier to check later than “iced coffee.” For milk comparisons at home, our plant-based milk guide shows why the precise carton matters.

Why an old Starbucks calorie list may disagree

Recipes, naming and nutrition listings can change. For example, the current U.S. nutrition page for Grande Iced Passion Tango Tea lists 5 calories. Older guides often show zero. We use the current product page linked in the table and keep the date of the check visible.

A similar difference can come from geography rather than a mistake. A U.K. or Canadian product is not guaranteed to use the U.S. recipe. When you are ordering locally, your local menu and the selected size take priority over this comparison.

Frequently asked questions

What is the lowest-calorie Starbucks drink in this list?

Grande Nitro Cold Brew and Grande Iced Passion Tango Tea tie at 5 calories in this selection. This is a comparison of seven named U.S. drinks, not an exhaustive ranking of every menu option.

What is a creamy Starbucks drink under 100 calories?

The standard U.S. Grande Vanilla Sweet Cream Nitro Cold Brew lists 70 calories. Its non-Nitro counterpart lists 110 calories, so choose the exact menu entry.

Are sugar-free Starbucks drinks calorie-free?

Not necessarily. Sugar-free syrup does not remove the calories from milk, cream or other ingredients in the drink.

Does changing milk give an exact calorie saving?

Only if you have nutrition information for the resulting recipe and amount. Different drinks use different milk quantities; a universal subtraction can be misleading.

How we checked this guide

We checked the official U.S. product information on 29 October 2026. Calories and protein describe the stated servings; chart values are calculated from those labels. This is a selected label comparison, not a complete market ranking or a taste test. Check the actual package for updates.
